I didn't always live in my home that I'm in now. Of course I always had food
and water and toys, but never real parents. I was bought from a "breeder" by a lady who bought birds cheap and sold them to
pet stores. I was a little bird then. She brought me to a pet store called Pet's Etc. in Haverhill and I was told this would
be my home for a while. I was very scared and was squawking alot, everyone said I sounded like a squeaky dog toy! I was fed
and watered and let out of my cage every day to play on my very own stand in the corner. After a while of being there,
Dave and Marissa (the 2 people that worked there) helped me become used to humans, I actually became very friendly
to them. I would let almost anyone pet me, I'd even invite them to by fluffing up my feathers on my head (what can I say,
it feels good!). Soon I noticed a girl who came into the pet store alot. I found out she was friends with Marissa
and dating Dave. She would always come back and talk to me and pick me up, most of the time I would ride around on her
shoulder. It was kinda fun having her there, I got more attention than anyone else in the birdroom. (I didn't rub it in though). Almost
every day Kelly, (I discovered her name) would come in to see her friends and me. One day as she was petting
me, she said to Marissa "I think I'm going to buy dusty". Well I'd seen other people in the store "buy" my bird friends
and they were always taken away from the pet store. That same day that Kelly said she was going to "buy" me, one of my
bird friends that had been bought came back to have his wings clipped, (which me and mom STRONGLY
believe in!) He told me that being bought was the best thing that ever happened to him! After that, I hoped
Kelly meant what she had said about buying me! I didn't get bought that night like I had hoped, but Kelly seemd to like me
and I thought maybe she needed to get ready for me where she lived. But the next day Kelly didn't take me either. I heard
her telling Marissa that she would "make payments on me" and it might take a while, Marissa said that was fine. I guess I
costed alot of money and Kelly didn't have it all. Each day she came in and played with me, and once a week she made payments
on me of $25 - $100 dollars. Soon though she had to make payments every 2 weeks. It was taking a long time.

Finally one night Kelly came in with Dave (who didn't work at the pet store
anymore) and I listened closely. She said she was all set on payments and was ready to take me! I saw Marissa walk by the
bird cages and got a box. It was kinda scary going into the box, but I knew that was how birds were bought, all of my friends
who went home were put in boxes too. Either way, I hated that box! It was dark with only a few holes in it for me! I chewed
at it and made mean noises at it! When we stopped, we were at Kelly's house, we went right to her room after Dave left, and she
set the cage up with toys and food and perches! It was cool! Her room was messy though, there were horrible boxes everywhere! A bunch
of days later, I was put back in a horible box and we started moving again. When we stopped, we were at a new house.
I guess Kelly had to move just like I did! We were there for a couple months and then moved again to the place I live
now. I guess Kelly's parents stayed at the house we had moved to before and Kelly and Dave were moving to their own place. I
didn't mind though, I like Dave. Now we were here to stay for a while. I went through 2 cages until they found the
one they liked for me. It is really nice! I have a ladder to get down, I like to go find them if they aren't in
the living room, or go over and sometimes I watch tv with them. I have so many toys! I get fruits and veggies and seed
every day. And they give me yellow water (I think it's filled with vitamins), but it tastes ok. Kelly, (I call her mom
now), works at the pet store now, and sometimes she brings me in to spend the
day with her and let me see my old friends who live there.
Well thats how my life started, now I'm as happy as can be! My bird friends were right,
being bought is the best thing that can happen to a bird! (as long as the mom or dad knows what they are doing, I heard mom
telling Dave about some birds online who were abused and I felt so bad, but was thankful that I was never left in a dark room
without food or water for days) I think mom put a link to the place you can rescue them from on here! Take a peek!
And in the rest of these pages you can see my favorite things to do (a big one is to look
pretty for mom's camera). along with pictures of me and the other animals that live with me,
mom and dad.
